Looking for the GREENEST place to stay in Lamar, Colorado? Rogue businessman, Doug Thrall wraps the former Best Western Cow Palace Inn, home of the infamous Oprah Winfrey siting in LED lights, Copper Clad enhancements and the *greenest* footprint imaginable. Built in the mid 1970’s of adobe brick, the Cow Palace Inn is recognized a NEW member of the Rodeway Inn chain. Thrall, a local boy, grew up, moved away and frequently returns to help with local improvements and developments.
Thrall’s latest venture took what could have become the community’s biggest embarrassment, via Oprah Winfrey’s notorious visit, and brought back a good measure of vintage recognition. This site should be well dressed in cozy and comfortable new beds, linens, and designer details, not to mention a well trained staff just in time for the Famous Two Shot Goose Hunt hits Lamar, the end of November.
Thrall says, “An ice cream shop will be placed in the Inn. Our goal is to have the best steaks and shakes in the State of Colorado.” He adds, “When the restaurant reopens, the hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and guests will not only have the choice of a continental breakfast, with cereal, but a hot breakfast.”
The article in the Lamar Ledger quoted Thrall as stating, “Applicants have been coming in, in droves and hiring is taking place for everything, including a bellhop. The bellhop will greet guests at their car and wash their windshield as part of their duties.”
This is one Colorado Miracle that will soon be providing Colorado Residents with green job opportunities and a classy working environment at this Rodeway Inn.
